Together with Hedwig Schaefer I led a diverse group of people: musicians, composers, lighting designers, project managers, opera enthusiasts and sceptics alike, through a 3-day design thinking workshop, to work on future visions for the Icelandic Opera. During these days, the enthusiastic group talked to people on the streets about their individual needs when it comes to the art form “Opera” and developed about 200 new ideas and concrete prototypes, which they tested with users to get feedback and to develop them further.
The grand finale was a networking event, where Reykjavik citizens of all ages and (musical) background were invited to Harpa to design future ideas for their Opera house and program.
„We had the pleasure of having Flavia Bleuel and Hedwig Schaefer lead a Design thinking workshop here in Harpa for the Icelandic opera with excellent results. They were both inspiring and professional and the participants all agreed it was the most interesting workshop that they had participated in.
We worked on a lot of ideas that we have already put into action with great results and plan to do this regularely with them to maintain the innovative spirit and evolution of our institution as well as reaching out to new audiences and keeping the optimistic spirit we need to make the most of our opportunities.”
